FindSignal/Clinic growth guides

Local search for Scottish aesthetic clinics: what you can control.

Local visibility is not won with a hidden trick. It comes from making your clinic easy to understand, verify and choose—while keeping treatment marketing accurate and responsible.

1. Make the Business Profile complete and accurate

Google says local results are mainly shaped by relevance, distance and prominence. Distance is not something a clinic can optimise away, so focus on the parts you can improve: verify the profile, choose the most specific accurate category, complete the address and opening hours, and keep those details current.

Do not add services, locations or keywords that misrepresent the business. The aim is a more precise match between the clinic and a suitable search—not visibility at any cost.

2. Keep the website and profile consistent

Check the clinic name, address, telephone number, opening hours and booking destination across the homepage, contact page, footer and Business Profile. Inconsistency creates customer doubt and makes it harder to know which information is current.

If the clinic has more than one genuine location, give each location a useful page with its own address, access information, hours and services. Avoid near-identical doorway pages that add no value for patients.

3. Build treatment pages around patient decisions

A treatment page should help a suitable visitor understand the concern addressed, practitioner approach, consultation process, location and next step. Keep claims supportable and explain uncertainty rather than promising outcomes.

Use the same treatment language across the website and booking platform. When the names change during the hand-off, visitors can wonder whether they have chosen the correct appointment.

4. Treat reviews as reassurance, not decoration

Google recommends responding to reviews and notes that review quantity and positive ratings can contribute to prominence. Ask for honest feedback without scripting a positive result, respond professionally, and never reveal personal or treatment information in a public reply.

On the website, use genuine, evidenced testimonials relevant to the service being discussed. Avoid presenting an exceptional outcome as typical.

5. Keep visibility work inside advertising rules

Search copy still counts as advertising. CAP and the ASA state that prescription-only medicines such as Botox cannot be advertised to the public, including through indirect references in promotional content. Their guidance advises eligible clinics to promote a consultation rather than the prescription product itself and to keep claims balanced and factual.

This guide is not legal or clinical advice. When wording is uncertain, use CAP Copy Advice or obtain professional advice before publishing.

6. Measure actions without inventing certainty

Track the sequence that matters: useful page views, booking or enquiry starts, completed enquiries and confirmed appointments. Separate your own testing from customer activity, and label unattributed traffic honestly.

If analytics uses cookies or reads information from a visitor’s device, the ICO says non-essential technologies generally require clear information and active consent. A privacy-preserving aggregate setup can reduce data collection, but its actual behaviour still needs to be checked and documented.
